End of the year 2020 in Cuba
Our New Year’s Eve trip to Cuba begins in the capital, Habana, and continues towards the Viñales valley, famous for the cultivation of Cuban tobacco. We will then immerse ourselves in the history of Cuba in Santa Clara, where we will visit the Che Guevara mausoleum, go to Trinidad, a World Heritage Site.
In Trinidad we will celebrate our 2021 New Year’s Eve in Cuba: we can dance on the steps of the Casa de la Musica, or dive into the crystal clear waters of Playa Ancon or simply walk among the countless stone streets.
Our first days of 2021 will be in Cienfuegos, the Pearl of the South, overlooking the natural bay of Jagua, named a World Heritage Site, which tells the colonial history with its Spanish-style buildings. During the excursion to the Topes de Collante Natural Park, we will visit El Nicho: a beautiful waterfall that creates several natural lakes where you can take a swim … you will discover and experience all this and much more on your 2021 New Year’s Eve in Cuba.
Participants who have chosen to fly individually will join the group in Havana on December 26. Meeting with the Daiquiri Tours local representative who will assist with the private transfer to the Casa Particular. Accommodation in the reserved rooms

Trinidad, founded in 1514, remained mainly a secondary port used by smugglers until the end of the 18th century. Slaves and gold arrived from English-controlled Jamaica, but in the early 19th century a slave revolt in Haiti led the French landowners to take refuge in Trinidad, where they re-established their small empires. Economic prosperity however ended when the wars of independence devastated the sugar plantations of the region and the city fell into the shadows again. The legacy of this short period of wealth is testified by the towers of the city’s baroque churches, Carrara marble floors, wrought iron gates, and large residences. The most interesting museum in Trinidad is the Museo Histórico Municipal, but Taller Alfarero, a large ceramic workshop where traditional processing techniques are still used, is also worth a visit.

Cienfuegos, the Pearl of the South, stands at the bottom of a bay, at the entrance of which is the Jagua fortress built in the year 1745 by the Spaniards and which represents one of the most impressive military structures on the south coast of Cuba as protection from pirates of the Caribbean. The historic center of Cienfuegos was declared a World Heritage Site in 2005, and the Tomas Terry Theater, a small jewel with horseshoe-shaped stalls and two wooden stages, was declared a National Heritage by the Cuban government in 1978. The only city in Cuba to be founded by the French from Lousiana, Cienfuegos is one of the main ports of Cuba, mainly active in the sugar, coffee, and tobacco trade. The first to settle in the Cienfuegos area were the Taino Indians who named their new land Cacicazgo de Jagua – an indigenous word meaning “beauty”. In 1494 Christopher Columbus discovered the Bahìa de Cienfuegos during his second trip to the New World and 14 years later, Sebastian de Ocampo passed through here on the occasion of his circumnavigation of the island.
If the nineteenth-century architecture and the peaceful position on the sea contribute to creating a pleasant atmosphere, the same cannot be said of the maze of industries that surround it. Alongside the Bahia de Cienfuegos, there is a huge shipyard, the bulk of the Cuban fishing fleet, a factory that produces nitrogen fertilizer, a cement factory, a refinery, a thermal power plant and the only Cuban giant nuclear power plant abandoned in the 90s when the Soviet money ran out. Fortunately for travelers, pollution has not yet reached the city center.
